Starting in 1991 Dr. Renate Graßl studied biology at the University of Regensburg. She earned her doctorate in 2000 for a thesis on a proton glucose symporter from the green algae Chlorella kessleri. Following her doctorate Ms. Graßl was active in the Research and Development Department of a biotechnology firm specialized in microbiology and protein biochemistry. As the head of a research group she gained ample industrial experience and a keen insight into intellectual property right issues from the point of view of the inventor.
Dr. Renate Graßl is active in intellectual property rights since 2009, her team assistance being focused on biotechnology and biology.
